How to Love your Liver and Kidneys While Doing Spring Cleaning

clean-home-2-1193877-mIn my previous blog post, I discussed how cleaning chemicals are absorbed  through our skin and how the vapors are inhaled.

Our livers and kidneys work hard to detoxify the harmful ingredients that we ingest. Chemicals that are absorbed through our skin  bypass these detoxifying organs and go right to the bloodstream where they are circulated throughout the body. It generally takes about 26 seconds for these chemicals to be present in every cell of our bodies.

As a former research scientist in a toxicology lab with the US Government and in corporate Research and Development in household cleaning products, I have many years of experience evaluating the safety and toxicity of the ingredients used in cleaning products. Just because a product is on the market and is intended for household use, does not mean there are no risks involved.
In my opinion, most household cleaning products are toxic! The ones that are labeled as toxic, such as toilet bowl cleaners and drain openers, are very toxic. People have actually died using these products!  Many cleaning products react negatively with other cleaning products, so you have to be careful about making certain you never mix cleaning products. The fumes created in a chemical reaction can be deadly.
